The Batesville Swim Team had been active this year, competing in meets and growing as a team. Team members include Andrew Cox, Catie Mitchell, and Jennifer Baker, along with four junior high students.

Sophomore Jennifer Baker commented, “We’re a small team. It’d be amazing if we could recruit more. Anyone interested should definitely join!”

The team participates in meets at Paragould, Jonesboro, Searcy, with the district championship in Cabot.

Swim practices were held from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights.

Andrew Cox, when asked what he believed was the hardest part about swimming, said, “[I think] learning to operate at 100% while regulating breaths every 5-10 seconds. If you’re on the swim team, then you don’t mind getting wet.”

Jennifer Baker said, “Our practices are hard, but they really pay off. Basically it’s a lot of fun and a great way to stay in shape. Competition is fantastic because not only are you competing with others, but you’re competing against your own time. Also, it’s a fun way to make new friends.”
